We all want to hear those beautiful words someday from Jesus! I know that I do. But in order to hear those awesome words, we have to know what it requires of us. I’ll tell you, for most of us, it will take more than just reciting “The Sinner’s Prayer.” Meaning, once we get saved, that’s only the beginning. We still have work to do.
Now, I’m not talking about working for salvation, because we know that it is a free gift and none of us can take any credit for that. However, the Bible does tells us that “faith without works is dead.” Hebrews 2:14 says, “What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it in your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?” (NLT)
What this verse means is that we’ve got work to do for the Kingdom. If someone is in need, we need to seek God in how to help that individual. If a family is hungry, we need to buy some food to feed them. If someone needs encouragement, we need to be the ones ready and available with a “now” word for them. Do you get the point? We show our faith in our actions.
Again, we want to hear the words, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23) So in order to hear those words, first of all, we have to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, be doing well and good, being faithful, and serving. So…how would you say you’re doing? Because these are some good examination questions. Every now and then I like to check myself to see if I am doing what Jesus is asking of me. I pray that you’ll do the same.
The bottom line sis, is that we get busy doing what we are called to do in these last days. Jesus said, “Occupy until I come.” (Luke 19:13) Meaning use your talents and gifts that He has given you and lead others to the Kingdom. It’s not just about us making it in, but helping others as well. We are supposed to be fulfilling the great commission.
So last questions, “Are you living a life that is leading others to the Kingdom by the way you live, act, and talk?” Think about it for a moment. Could you do better or use some improvement? Remember, you want to hear those words. So here’s how you do it…
- Do well as you live here on this earth. Do things in excellence, not half-hearted. Go 100! Colossians 3:23 states, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”
- Show God’s goodness and do good to others. Hebrews 13:16 says, “And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.” (NLT)
- Stay faithful to God, your relationships, and commitments. When you feel yourself about to be unfaithful in anything, ask the Lord to keep you from falling and remain committed. Jude 1:24, “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.” You must hold on until Jesus comes back for you. Endure.
- This is a must! When Jesus came to earth, He came to serve, not to be served. (Matthew 20:28) And we must follow in His footsteps as Christians.
So do your part. Find your place in the local church. Shine bright in your community with the light of Christ. Be salt, so that others around you will thirst for a new life. And be an encouragement to the body of Christ and non-believers. Time is running out.
Remember, Jesus is coming back soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let’s be ready from the Inside Out!
