This week, I have a simple message delivered straight from God’s Word. I want you to really read this passage of Scripture and think about it, while weighing it to your life. As you read it, I want you to take each line…each sentence and really think about what its saying. Because as we draw closer to the soon return of Christ, we will need to truly know how to fight this good fight of faith and finish strong.
Now, listen to what Paul is saying to Timothy in this passage of Scripture, but also how it relates to us today. Here goes…
“….Follow what is right and good. Pursue a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for what we believe. Hold tightly to the eternal life that God has given you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses…obey his commands with all purity. Then no one can find fault with you from now until our Lord Jesus Christ returns.” 1 Timothy 11-12 and 14 (NLT)
Paul was a great example of how to live this Christian life successfully. And as an end result, he fought the good fight and finished strong. Second Timothy 4:6-8 clearly tells us how, “As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near. I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race and I have remained faithful. And now a prize awaits me-the crown of righteousness the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that great day of his return. And the prize is not just for me, but for all who eagerly look forward to his glorious return.”
Jesus is coming soon! We can tell by the signs of the times. So much is happening in the world around us that we really need to be not only living this life for Christ, but also sharing the gospel message with others. Time is running out.
So I urge you just as the apostle Paul did in his day saying, “…lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Always keep yourselves united with the Holy Spirit, and bind yourselves together with peace.” Ephesians 4:1-3 (NLT)
Hold onto what you have, my sister. Shine bright for Christ from the inside out. Live a life that is worthy of your calling. Whatever God is calling you to do, go all the way! Do it wholeheartedly and don’t let sin or anyone else stop you. Hebrews 12:1-2 says, “…Let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish.”
Stay focused. Keep your eyes on Jesus and don’t ever give up! Practice patience, forgiveness, humility, gentleness, holiness, loving and serving others, obedience to God’s Word, and walking in the Spirit (See Galations 5:16-23). And by all means…keep fighting this good fight of faith until it’s over. Remember, you’ve got to finish strong!
Also, remember that Jesus is coming soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let’s be ready from the Inside Out. *
