Did this title catch your attention? I hope it did, because we’re going to be talking a little bit about modest apparel today for women…especially as it relates to jeans. Now, let me start by saying this... I absolutely love wearing jeans! Hence, I’m not against jeans. Did that breathe a sigh of relief for you?! Ha! But I am going to share a few tips on how to wear them as a Christian woman. So let’s kick this off with some good food for our spirit…
If you don’t know already, the Bible talks about modest apparel in 1Timothy 2:9-10 which says, “And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.” (NLT)
Personally, this Scripture makes me think not only about what I should wear, but how I should wear my clothes, hair, and jewelry. But before I go on, I want to explain that this particular Scripture is not saying that we can’t fix our hair nice, or wear gold or pearls, etc. It says that we should not draw attention to ourselves in that way. Our beauty should come from within and by the good things that we do (by our character and deeds done in faith). So we have to have the right estimation of what its saying. Now, for this blog post we’re going to focus on “modest in their appearance” and “decent and appropriate” clothing as women who are devoted to God.
Again, I love my jeans, but because I am well endowed, I’ve got to know how to wear them appropriately so I don’t draw unnecessary attention to myself or cause men to stumble around me (lusting). Amen!
Now let me tell you, there are some cute clothes out there in the malls and shops and even in our own closets, but again, we have to know how to wear them. So without further delay, allow me show you some bad and good examples of wearing jeans today…I’m just saying! WAIT! Hey guys! Viewer discretion is advised! This is a ladies blog…but if you’re reading this to help your wife, your sister, co-worker, church friends, etc., please pass it on. Thanks in advance (plus everyone has on clothes in the pics). Here goes…
Do you see how NOT wearing your jeans properly can NOT please God? Especially as a Christian woman. Yes, it may be tempting to do and you might think, well it's not too bad. Sis, stop! Please do not deceive yourself. Though it may be tempting to try to get away with this, conviction should stop us in our tracks before we even begin to walk out the door. Just because many others are doing it around us, does not mean that we should. Don't you want to please your Father in heaven in every way? I do. Well then, the way we wear our apparel should be modest, appropriate and decent, right? Right.
Now, let me say this. There are some cute ways to wear your jeans. You don’t have to wear them in these ways above. Remember, think about the men and boys around you. I personally have some jeans that are hanging up in my closet that are questionable. However, I wouldn’t dare wear them out anywhere unless I was covered appropriately. I like to wear a nice cover-up or longer shirt with my jeans sometimes. However, if they’re not tight, I can wear them with a shorter shirt that doesn't cover the butt. But the whole point here is that I’m conscious and aware of my apparel and in making sure that I please my Father in heaven. Sometimes, I literally ask Him, "What should I wear Lord?" Or I'll ask my husband or a friend in so many words, "What do you think? Is it a go or no?" So with that being said, here are some cute examples of how to wear jeans today...
NOTE: These are only suggestions. God will show you what to wear and how to wear them. But my encouragement to you is this...just don't ignore your conviction if you think they're either too tight, questionable, or too sexy to wear at home or in public. And I said at home too because if you're having a party or some friends over, you still have to watch your attire...even though it's your house. Listen ladies, this is about a relationship with Christ, not religion. It's a heart thing. And we should want to please Him and love Him with all our heart in everything...including our apparel. Ephesians Chapter 5 talks about living in the light. Ephesians 5:3 says, "Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God's people." So we should be pure in our dress. And Ephesians 5:10 states, "Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord." God also states in 1 Peter 1:16 also says, "Be ye holy; for I am holy."
So you see, God wants us to be holy and also be known from the beauty that is within us, and by the good things that we do (as mentioned above). He also speaks specifically to wives about this in 1 Peter 3:4, "You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God." There it is ladies! I hope and pray that this was an enlightenment to you this week. May God adorn you and I in the beauty of His holiness...even as it relates to our jeans.
Remember, Jesus is coming back soon. So let’s get ready from the Inside Out.

So true…
But, I must add there are women like myself who are not well endowed and use a flat chest or a flat back as an excuse not to be modest. I think that no matter whether a lady is well endowed or not we should be mindful. Different people like different things and Lust is Lust no matter what it looks like.
Great Post !!!
Awesome! Praise God! Thanks sis 🙂 ps) God began convicting me about my apparel this summer. Then I listened to a sermon on holydesperation.com called “A Call to Modesty”. It’s awesome and You would love it. Go listen if you’re able!! God bless you
