Do you know what God has called you to do? If you know, are you walking in it right now or are you on your way? If you don’t know yet, are you seeking Him for the answer to the opening question? I would say that these are pretty important questions to be asking at this time. Some of you might be asking, “Why?” Well, because time is running out. Jesus is coming soon and the Bible tells us that He is coming quickly (Rev. 22:7). So, if you’re reading this post today, you need to know that Jesus has you on His heart and mind right now in regards to God’s calling on your life.

Now, with that being said, I need to address that there are many people who are doing what they want to do vs. what God has ultimately called them to do. This is not good! Jesus says in Mark 8:34 & 36, “…you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross, and follow me (NLT). For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his soul?” (KJV) I pray that you’re not one of those people. But if you are, just go to God about it in prayer, confess where you are, repent, and do the very thing that He wants you to do. If you are doing what God has called you to do, then I encourage you to continue flowing by His Spirit. Amen! However, the point here today is that we don’t want to get so caught up in doing something that we think is a grand idea, when it turns out that it was never something that God intended for us to do in the first place. This requires self-examination for everyone.

In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus tells us what true disciples look like when He says, “Not all people who sound religious are really godly. They may refer to me as ‘Lord,’ but they still won’t enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The decisive issue is whether they obey my Father in heaven. On judgment day many will tell me, ‘Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Go away; the things you did were unauthorized.” (NLT) Whoa!

Are you doing things that are unauthorized? When I first read this years ago and again the other day, I was like, “Whoa! Lord, help me to do your will and not my own thing.” This is not a one-time prayer. Whenever you or me are about to embark upon something new or an idea that just pops up in our minds, we really need to examine ourselves and ask the question, “Lord, is this what YOU want?” There are many things that can be done in the name of the Lord, but if God never called us to do it then that would be considered unauthorized. It would not be in accordance to His will. And this is a pretty BIG deal, ladies! Don’t miss this.

*For example, it doesn’t make sense to be spending time on a project or an assignment or flowing in an area of ministry that God never called you to. The key here is that you must make sure that whatever you’re doing in the name of the Lord is truly God ordained and not you-ordained. You also have to watch when people speak things into your life randomly. Here’s a nugget of wisdom. If it doesn’t line up with God’s word and what He has already been speaking to you through His spirit or trusted leaders, then don’t believe the hype! The Bible tells us to try the spirits. First John 4:1 says, “Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.” (NLT) The way to do this is to stay connected to God, be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and READ THE WORD.

I know this might be a hard pill to swallow or new awakening for some, but John 8:32 says, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” In this last hour, we really have to be careful that we’re not deceived in any way. Remember Eve was deceived by a snake! Satan will use any method to get you and me thrown off course to do our own thing. BUT God can protect us from this deception through our obedience and close relationship with Him. First John 4:4 assures us of this, “…because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” Keep in mind, obeying God is the decisive issue whether we will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.

As I close this post, if you really want to make sure that you’re doing what God has called you to do (His will), then I encourage you to pray and really ask Him, “Lord, what do you want? What should I do here? Am I doing what’s right?” Don’t go full speed ahead on a great idea, unequally-yoked relationship, a job or ministry opportunity, or a major decision without consulting God first. It only takes a few minutes to pray this prayer. When you consult Him, He’s faithful to answer you in His own way according to your relationship with Him and through trusted individuals. NOW when He answers… follow His plan by trusting Him and through obedience. And even though sometimes the answer or details of His plan may tarry, know that it will always be right and on time! I think the greatest thing about this is that when God calls you, you will experience His peace and have the God-confidence you need to accomplish whatever it is that He is calling you to do. Amen!

*WORD FOR YOU TODAY

“And now may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, equip you with all you need for doing his will.”

Hebrews 13:20 (NLT)

Remember, Jesus is coming back soon! And those who endure unto the end shall be saved. So let’s get ready from the Inside Out!
